Saturday, Dec. 3 at 9:15 am, Condors and their families are invited to join us in the Jack Charron arena parking lot to orgnaize ourselves for a bottle drive! Last year, a great time was had by all and it really became a bonding time for players and parents as they walked around neighbourhoods and collected together. I encourage everyone who can, to come on out, but especially those new to the Condors family! If you can come, please send a quick email to Anny Woodward so she can add you to a firstname.lastname@example.org
If you can’t make it to next Saturday’s bottle drive, why not do one in your own neighbourhood? We have found that the week following a holiday yields many happy returns! ;o) I have attached a flyer that Darlene Macdonald has put together for us. Feel free to copy it and distribute it to your neighbours the weekend before your bottle drive date! That is an excellent way to advertise the team, and let your neighbours know you’ll be coming. They can even leave their empties on their front step for you if they’re not going to be home!
Hope to see you next Saturday morning at 9:15am!
You may see some indications on the web site that I am working on making the site operate in both French and English to accommodate all of our families in this bilingual city of Ottawa.
This will be an ongoing process for a bit as I get the various parts of the site translated and reacting to the user’s language preference.
As a show of (meager) progress, this post has been translated using Google Translate so if you click on the language choice list on the left panel, you should be able to see the bilingual content in action. Future translations will be done by actual humans, so forgive me if Google Translate mangles the French 😉
The web site was running along nicely and getting more and more functionality and content until I was doing some work trying to make it bilingual for our Francophone families and all of a sudden only the main page was working and I couldn’t figure out how to make it work!
I have had to re-install the software and was able to recover most of the content, however, some of the things like the registration forms and photo galleries will take some more time to recover, so please be patient.
This would also be a good time for me to open the floor for suggestions on what the website needs to make it both a way to give information to those seeking it, as well as a resource for the Condor’s community of athletes, families, and volunteers.
Feel free to let me know at email@example.com
If you haven’t registered for the 2011-2012 Condors, please do so asap! Click on the “Players Reg”. tab above to download the forms.
